How it works

Extract text in three steps

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Drag and drop your PDF onto the tool or click to browse. The file loads in your browser — never sent to any server.

  2. 2

    Text is extracted automatically

The tool uses pdfjs-dist to extract all text content from every page. A preview shows the extracted text so you can verify it before downloading.

  3. 3

    Download the .txt file

Click 'Download .txt file' to save the extracted text. Each page is separated by a header line so you can easily navigate long documents.

Why use Signvoy

Fast, readable, private

Every page, organized

Text is extracted page by page and each page is separated with a header in the output, so you know exactly where each block of text comes from.

Preview before downloading

The extracted text is shown in a scrollable preview so you can verify the content before saving the .txt file.

No upload required

All extraction is done by pdfjs-dist running locally in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

FAQ

Common questions

Does this work on scanned PDFs?
No — scanned PDFs contain images, not selectable text. For scanned documents, use the OCR PDF tool which reads text from images using in-browser OCR.
Will the extracted text preserve formatting?
The .txt output is plain text — formatting like bold, italics, columns, and tables is not preserved. Text from multi-column layouts may appear interleaved. For structured extraction, consider the original source document.
Is there a page limit?
No hard limit. Very large PDFs may take several seconds to process while pdfjs-dist reads every page.
Can I copy the text instead of downloading?
Yes — the preview textarea is readable and selectable, so you can select all (Ctrl/Cmd + A) and copy the text directly.
