Most government forms, job applications, insurance documents, and contracts are distributed as PDFs. Many of them are interactive PDF forms (AcroForms) — you can click into fields and type. Others are flat PDFs with no form fields — you need a tool that lets you place text anywhere on the page. Signvoy has free tools for both cases.

Two types of PDF forms — and the right tool for each

Interactive AcroForms: These have real fillable fields — you click in a box and a cursor appears. Most government forms, IRS documents, and professionally produced contracts are AcroForms.

Flattening is important if you're sending the completed form to someone else. It prevents recipients from clearing or modifying your answers.

Adding your signature

For drawn signatures, the tool provides a signature pad:

• Type: Enter your name and choose a script font

Filling government and tax forms

US government forms (like IRS 1040, W-9, I-9) are typically interactive AcroForms. Fill them using the Form Filler tool for the most accurate result.
