Free Tool
Draw black boxes over sensitive text or images to permanently redact them. The redactions are flattened into the PDF so they cannot be undone — no upload, no account.
How it works
Redact your PDF in three steps
- 1
Upload your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF onto the tool or click to browse. The file loads in your browser — never sent to any server.
- 2
Draw redaction boxes
Click and drag on any page to draw a black redaction box over the content you want to hide. You can add as many boxes as needed across all pages. Click a box to remove it.
- 3
Apply redactions and download
Click 'Apply redactions & download'. The black boxes are drawn directly into the PDF page content using pdf-lib and flattened permanently — they cannot be removed with a standard viewer.
Why use Signvoy
Permanent, precise, private
Draw to redact — any content
Draw redaction boxes over any text, image, or area you want to hide. Works on text-based and scanned PDFs alike.
Permanently flattened
Redactions are drawn as solid black rectangles directly into the PDF page content using pdf-lib — they become part of the document and cannot be undone with a standard viewer.
Your content stays on your device
All processing is local. Your PDF and its sensitive content are never sent to any server — close the tab and everything is discarded.

FAQ
Common questions
- Are the redactions truly permanent?
- The black rectangles are drawn into the PDF page content using pdf-lib, which means they are embedded as standard PDF drawing operations. They cannot be removed in any standard PDF viewer. However, unlike professional redaction tools, the underlying text data may still exist in the PDF's text stream. For maximum security on highly sensitive documents, use a professional redaction tool that also strips the underlying text.
- Can I redact text on scanned PDFs?
- Yes — scanned PDFs contain images, and the black boxes are drawn over the page image. Since there is no embedded text, the redaction is as permanent as possible.
- Can I undo a redaction before downloading?
- Yes — before you click 'Apply redactions & download', click any black box on the page to remove it.
- Can I redact multiple pages?
- Yes — scroll through all pages and draw boxes on any page. All redactions across all pages are applied at once when you download.
