How it works

Add a watermark in three steps

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Drag and drop your PDF onto the tool or click to browse. The file loads in your browser — never sent to any server.

  2. 2

    Set the watermark

Type your watermark text (e.g. 'CONFIDENTIAL' or 'DRAFT'). Adjust font size, opacity, rotation angle, and color using the controls.

  3. 3

    Download the watermarked PDF

Click 'Download watermarked PDF'. The watermark is drawn on every page using pdf-lib and your browser downloads the result immediately.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I watermark only specific pages?
The current tool applies the watermark to all pages. If you need page-specific watermarks, use the Add Text to PDF tool to place text manually on individual pages.
Is the watermark removable?
The watermark is drawn directly into the PDF page content as a text element — it is not a removable annotation. However, it is not cryptographically secure; a determined person with editing software could attempt to remove it.
Can I use an image as a watermark?
Currently only text watermarks are supported. Image watermarks (e.g. a logo) are planned for a future update.
What opacity should I use?
For a typical 'CONFIDENTIAL' or 'DRAFT' stamp, 15–25% opacity works well — visible enough to notice but not so heavy it obscures the content. Use 40–60% for a bolder mark.
